The Butter Crock was originally invented by the French in the 18th century. It keeps butter cool yet soft for easy spreading on bread. Each Butter Crock holds one cube of butter, which is placed into the lid. Fill the cavity with butter, then place 1 1/2 inches of water in bottom of crock and replace the lid. The water creates a seal the keeps the butter soft and fresh so it doesn't need to be refrigerated, but make sure you change the water weekly. |
